Diary Of A Busker Day 469 Wednesday November 6th 2013 Winchester (Opposite Vodafone, Time: 3:15-4:55pm).
Song Of The Day – Wouldn’t It Be Nice, as it secured a CD sale, and one of the more expensive ones, no less. The happy buyer – a young Chinese woman. Of course, I had to stress that the song, being a relatively new set addition, is NOT on the CD. But, great – I don’t often get the Chinese buying CDs. 1p or, if they’re feeling generous, 2p donations, yes, but not CDs. Very strange.
That small woman who I often see with Brendan the painter, came across and opened her shopping bag. She said something but I couldn’t make it out because either A: I’m deaf, or B: I can’t make out her accent – I think she’s foreign, but she was urging me to take some bits of food she’d bought, which I didn’t want to do as I’m not homeless, I’ve got food! But she pushed a banana in my hand, then four big light-green grapes, which I DID take and eat, there and then. Delicious, they were. I had the banana – a rather under-ripe one, I have to say, later on at home.
About half-way through, I got paid a big compliment. An old guy said ‘I’ve got nothing in my pocket’ – ‘That’s OK’, I said, ‘…but I see you alot and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it. It’s so humanising’. Humanising! I’ve never had that one before. The final count? Above the usual rate…for once.
Earnings: £30.15p (Including 1 £8 CD)
