Diary Of A Busker Day 643 Sunday October 5th 2014 Winchester (Opposite Pavilion, Time: 2:08-4:01pm).
Got off to a good start: Albatross, which got a contribution from a couple a bit older than me…and that’s not all. As they were walking off, they stopped, listened some more, then came back and BOUGHT A CD!!! I was so HAPPY!, especially after yesterday, that I chatted to them for a bit. They were fascinated by the fingerstyle technique, with the thumb doing the bass bit, so I gave them my ‘It’s not as difficult as most people think…as long as you can keep the thumb going on the low string, you can do the other stuff on top…it’s not too hard’ lecture. Which, of course, immediately destroys some of the so-called magic or mystique(?) about it. But so what?!
Halfway through, that autistic boy, Ethan, turned up with his parents, so I let him have a go strumming the guitar. He’s got a ukelele-sized guitar now, apparently. He’s very sweet. He was given a bunch of shrapnel to put in the bucket. I didn’t mind – I’ll make an exception in his case.
Those two drunken Elvis-loving women who were asking about hiring me out for a ‘do’ (they never got back to me), turned up. They were sitting outside the pizza place. One came over and said, ‘Elvis and Shadows!’, so I did the Elvis one then The Shadows one, which I’d done half an hour before, but again, so what?! A request’s a request! Also, I did Anjie again, and it got TWO donations, so I think I’ll persist with it.
Earnings: £19.32p (Including 1 CD)
