Day 2650
Friday January 30th 2026
Winchester
It’s meant to rain around 3 o’clock so I made a quick dash to town to do an hour before the deluge. There’s a bloke at the top spot but no one anywhere else…I set up at Nando’s with all the market stalls everywhere. No donations for twenty minutes then a fiver from a small child – well, from the mother as the child shook his head when she prompted him to give it to me. It doesn’t matter – a fiver, and I thought to myself “I live a charmed life”. Unfortunately, the charm ended there as there was only one more donation – of £2, until the rain stopped play after 55 minutes. In fact, I was playing in the light drizzle for ten minutes.
Oh, I almost forgot. A face from the past in the form of Nick, the sad man from the early days of the diary. He walked by, didn’t speak but smiled and gave the thumbs up. It’s nice to be remembered.
