Day 2713
Sunday July 5th 2026
Winchester
Another hot day so definitely no jacket required in The Square. I meet some nice people, three of which bought a £10 CD – a profit of £27, so that makes them extra nice!
I meet a couple from Florence. They’re English but have lived there since COVID. The man (who weirdly enough gave me the impression of being gay!) was very impressed by my Satie selection. After he expressed admiration for the Gymnopedie, I did Je Te Veux then the Gnossienne – the latter not often played here due to me fearing an appearance by that bloke who lives nearby who can’t handle me playing it!
There were some more foreign students. Today a small bunch came up and were very complimentary (they bought a CD) – so polite are these young foreigners! This lot are currently based in Bournemouth – ‘That’s where I was born!’ I tell them. I was even handed a tenner by a young chap, who even when just inside the museum, continued to watch me and smile, after the donation was given.
A good session which was unfortunately marred by my newly-acquired 12-string capo (with the compensated pad) breaking half an hour before the end. I’d had it for less than three weeks so I’m not very impressed but it’s got a lifetime guarantee so the G7th lot should send me a new one. A good job I wasn’t doing a proper gig!
The session was ten minutes longer than the usual two hour mark and the coinage at £46.10, was good…for once!
