Diary Of A Busker Day 26 Thursday January 13th Winchester High Street (opposite WH Smiths, Time: 2:25 – 3:35).
Not too cold, but wet and clammy so I had great difficulty playing, as the hands sort of stuck to the strings. Made nothing untill I started playing The Third Man, then four pound coins in five minutes, from four ladies in their 70s (separate – not in a group). I’m a bit concerned about what I’m going to do when all the aged people who remember this song -“brings back memories”, said the first old lady – are no longer here. I don’t mean no longer here in Winchester, I mean no longer anywhere! But people are living longer, so I reckon I’ll be alright for a bit – but how much longer am I going to be doing this for?
Still, I feel somewhat guilty – even parasitic – at times. I mean, I’d get practically nothing if it wasn’t for that one song! Maybe I should donate some of my money to the Anton Karas Estate.
Earnings: £10.05p.
